Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was founded in 1938 by Kulapati Dr.K.M.Munshi, a farsighted visionary and practical idealist with the blessing of Gandhiji and active support of Jawarharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Rajaji, Dr.Rajendra Prasad and other stalwarts of the freedom movement.
Over the years, from a modest ideologist research institution, the Bhavan has steadily grown into a comprehensive intellectual and cultural movement with an international outlook.
The Bhavan, committed to the ideals of the Father of our nation Gandhiji, is a luminous symbol of the noblest and best in Indian culture and Sanatana Dharma, which has an amazing unbroken continuity of over 5000 years and more.
Today, the Bhavan has 118 centres (373 institutions) in India and 7 centres overseas, employs 8000 personnel and has Students of more than 3,00,000. The Bhavan inculcates - value-based life through comprehensive educational institutions from kindergarten to post-graduate training and its Book University which has published 1600 - titles, covering a wide range and variety of Subjects of ancient and modern thoughts, has sold more than 25 million copies.
